Trello Power-Up

Your Trello board, visualized as a flowchart

Trello is built around horizontal lists. But real teams work in parallel paths, dependencies, and feedback loops. Flowboards gives you a visual layer to map work the way it actually flows.

The challenge

Complex workflows fall apart in a traditional Trello board

Trello is strong for task execution. But when work branches, loops, and depends on handoffs, list view makes the process harder to understand and improve.

Hidden dependencies

What happens

As work splits across columns, blockers and handoffs become hard to see in time.

Why it's a problem

Decisions slow down and handoffs slip.

Execution without visibility

What happens

You can move cards quickly, but it is hard to see the full journey when steps branch or loop.

Why it's a problem

Process issues show up after delivery starts.

Maps that go stale

What happens

When the process map lives in Miro or Lucidchart, it drifts from the board your team actually uses.

Why it's a problem

Extra context switching and less trust in the process.

Flowboards adds a visual layer directly on top of Trello, so your team can map and manage work in one connected workflow. See how it works in 3 steps →

How it works

Three steps to visual clarity

No migration, no separate workspace. Your Trello board becomes the foundation.

01

Open the Power-Up on your board

Add it from the Trello directory — no credit card, no signup form. Your free trial starts the moment you open the canvas on a board.

02

See your lists and cards as a flowchart

Your Trello lists and cards load into a visual layout automatically. Arrange them to map your workflow from start to finish.

03

Arrange, annotate, and save

Add shapes and connectors for context. Your layout saves per board and loads every time you return.

Features

Everything you need to map your workflow

Work with your real Trello board data in a visual canvas — no duplication, no drift.

Visual workflow map for every board

See your entire Trello board laid out as a flowchart. Lists become nodes, cards become items inside them, and you can arrange everything spatially to match your actual process.

Edit Trello cards from the canvas

Interact with real Trello data from the visual interface. Click on a card to see its details or reorder cards within a list.

Create cards directly from the map

Add new Trello cards without switching back to the board view. Create them right where they belong in your visual workflow, and they appear in Trello immediately.

Add shapes and connectors

Layer diagram shapes, decision nodes, and connector lines on top of your Trello board structure. Add process context that doesn't exist in Trello alone.

Persistent saved layouts

Your visual layout saves per board. Come back tomorrow or next month — your flowchart arrangement loads exactly where you left it, merged with current Trello data.

Single active editor lock

A built-in editor lock ensures one person edits the visual layout at a time, reducing conflicts. Other team members can still view the board's saved layout.

Why this approach

How it compares to what you're doing today

You don't need to abandon Trello or maintain a separate diagram. You need a visual layer built on top of your existing board.

Trello alone

Great for managing tasks in columns, but limited when workflows grow complex.

  • Task management
  • Visual process mapping
  • Real-time data accuracy
  • Bottleneck & status visibility
  • Diagram flexibility
  • No context switching

Flowboards

Recommended

A visual workflow layer that lives on top of your real Trello board data.

  • Task management via Trello
  • Visual process mapping
  • Real-time data accuracy
  • Bottleneck & status visibility
  • Diagram flexibility
  • No context switching

Separate diagram tool

Powerful for diagrams, but disconnected from your Trello board and data.

  • Task management
  • Visual process mapping
  • Real-time data accuracy requires manual sync with Trello
  • Bottleneck & status visibility
  • Diagram flexibility
  • No context switching

FAQ

Common questions

Is this an official Trello feature?
No. This is an independent third-party Power-Up built for Trello. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by Atlassian.
Can multiple people edit the layout at the same time?
Layout editing uses a single active editor lock to prevent conflicts. One person edits the visual layout at a time, while others can view the saved layout on the board.
Does it modify my Trello cards or lists?
When you move a card between lists or create a card from the visual interface, those changes happen in Trello. The diagram layout itself (positions, shapes, connectors) is stored separately and does not alter your Trello data.
How does the free trial work?
Just install the Power-Up and open the canvas — your 14-day trial starts automatically. No credit card, no signup form, no billing details until you decide to subscribe.
